Roger Waters - a true showman and musical artist!
I was floored when I saw this show at HP Pavilion in San Jose. The wall stretched from left field to right field, which must have made it 300+ feet wide. The music is an obvious classic, but the building of the wall and the use of it as an enormous video screen was unreal. The quality of the sound was off the hook. The absolutely only down side to the show was that, in order to generate that quality of video, the field housed 3 very large video booths. The video was indescribable. Better than HP by far (and that's saying a lot). I had to see the outdoor version at ATT Park and was among the first to buy tickets behind home plate. The show is 5 stars. It was with complete amazement that I sat and listened to several rows of people talking during the entire first set. The only worse thing had nothing to do with the show itself. Sit back, relax, take it in...all in. Shut the hell up. Who spends what turned out to be north of $200 bucks for a seat to one of the all-time greatest rock shows and visual experiences of all time only to chat over the music? I think a better job could have been done to tell buyers that they'd have a partially blocked view before spending that much cabbage. Next time, I'm field level (standing) or going higher to get above the video buildings. Eventually, I moved to one of the seats behind home plate that had been blocked off. The fact that I could now take it in without the distractions of the Lady Gaga crowd was a priceless trade-off. Yes, the view was blocked that much more, but the straight-on seats I had at HP were totally unblocked. Oops.
